About us

Welcome to Achies Farm, a small Croft in the beautiful north Highlands of Scotland. Our main focus is the ethical production of eggs from our poultry, honey from our bees and plants sown and raised here on the croft. We believe in locally raised and grown produce sold at its freshest locally. We have an honesty box at the end of our drive, but please go to the contacts page if you are interested in something in particular.

We have been running the Croft which we took on as a derelict property 9 years ago. At the time the barns had an open aspect view of the sky, the courtyard was full of decomposing caravans and what is now the veg garden had 30ft trees. There were a lot of areas we couldn’t even see as it was so overgrown.

9 years on and the majority of buildings have water tight roofs ( the office and potting shed had no roof at all in the beginning) and we now have fencing round all of the paddocks. We have a veg garden with a large poly tunnel and a small poly tunnel, a fruit garden, bee area, 5 paddocks (one of which is being transformed into an orchard this year), two gardens, a drying lawn and a courtyard garden.

This years plan is to renovate part of the mill building, build an orchard with a wildflower meadow and create a bee friendly garden around the bee hives. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years will bring.

There is never a dull moment or two days the same here at Achies, so we hope you enjoy reading about all of the projects we have going on.

Very best wishes

Val and George
